Study Shows That Oxidative Stress Can Cause Infertility

According to a new study published in the journal Pharmacological Research, there is evidence that oxidative stress can cause infertility in both men and women. This study makes the case for researching further into the potential benefit of antioxidants in treatment of infertility in both sexes. Infertility is on the rise worldwide, mainly because a lot of people are delaying having children till later in life compared to the generation before them.
The potential of using antioxidants to treat infertility may have another side benefit; that of treating erectile dysfunction in men and egg implantation in women. Of Course much more research and development is needed before antioxidants can be prescribed for treating infertility but this study at least makes a strong case for pharmaceutical companies to invest in researching not only vitamins C and E (which are commonly used as antioxidants) but also other lesser known antioxidants like lipoic acid as treatment for infertility.
In any case integrating antioxidant rich foods like fresh fruits (berries, oranges etc), carrots, broccoli etc in your daily diet is a good anyways as it helps in slowing down the effects of aging.
