Romantic Novels Paint an Unrealistic Picture of Sex and Romance

Romantic fictional books like Mills & Boon are one of the most popular genres of fiction and high year upon year sales of these types of books underline this fact. Though there is nothing wrong in reading them to pass the time and entertain one, but caution needs to be taken by millions of women who read such books, to not blur the line between reality and fiction.
The problem is that most of these books paint a totally unrealistic picture of what romance and sex is in real life. For a lot of women these novels are the only benchmark that they have about romantic and sexual relationship, and are especially true in the case of adolescent girls. No man can live up to such high and unrealistic expectations and a lot of people struggle with maintaining a happy and a positive romantic relationship.
The perception created by these romance novels are the root cause of a lot of relationship problems that many women face. So remember there is no harm in reading romantic fictional novels but understand that in real life a lot of work needs to be done to have a happy relationship with your partner and you need to accept them with their imperfections and never compare them to the “ideal hero” of the the romance novels because that is a surefire recipe for a relationship disaster.
