Here is some good news for both men
and women, till now a birth control pill was for the women only but finally a
birth control pill for men is in clinical trials and should be out in the
market in three to five years. This is a big development and will give men a
level of control which only women had in the past and gives couples a choice as
to which partner should use the pill.
The trials have been quite successful so far and most
volunteers have been happy with the results and have shown no serious or
noticeable side effects. In fact along with male contraceptive pills there are
also patches, implants and creams which are being tested as contraceptive
options for men.
Though researchers have had no
problems finding volunteers around the world for the clinical trials, there
remain some doubt about the acceptability by men for these options as many of
them feel that it may affect their masculinity, while a lot of women feel that
men are forgetful by nature and may be not as regular or particular about
taking the pill daily.
If the pill is approved by the FDA
and other medical organizations, there will no doubt be a huge media blitz
about it, and, though it may seem strange for men to take the pill initially, I
feel with time it will become as common as the pill is for women now.
